Audi India to produce 1,000 cars in 2009

Despite a worldwide decline in luxury car sales, Germany carmaker Audi’s expansion plans in India are on track. The luxury carmaker will be producing 1,000 units of the Audi A4 and the Audi A6 in India this year. The cars will be assembled at Audi’s facility in Aurangabad. The company will also appoint five new dealers in tier-II cities. What has greatly boosted Audi’s enthusiasm is a 200 per cent growth in sales in India in the year 2008, in spite of sagging sales elsewhere. The company’s target in India for the year 2008 was a sale of 1,000 cars. It exceeded this target by selling 1,050 cars in the year instead.
