Mahindra’s domestic auto sales stand at 17320 units in January 2009

Mahindra sells 1,788 XYLOs in two weeks
Mumbai, February 2, 2009: Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (M&M Ltd.), a part of the US $6.7 billion Mahindra Group, has announced its January 2009 automotive sales figures.

The recently launched Mahindra XYLO has sold 1,788 nos. in two weeks, while bookings for the vehicle have crossed the 4,000 mark.

“Prior to the launch of the XYLO, a lot of excitement was generated amongst potential customers which is reflected in the sales and booking numbers. This demand has led us to ramp up production which was possible at short notice as both the Scorpio and the XYLO are manufactured on the same line,” said Mr. Rajesh Jejurikar, Chief of Operations, Automotive Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.

M&M’s domestic volumes for the month of January 2009 stand at 17320 units, as against 20884 units in January 2008.

M&M’s domestic YTD volumes for January 2009 stand at 174873 units, as against 177470 units in the same period last year.

M&M’s YTD sales (Domestic + Exports) stand at 182612 units in January 2009, as against 186980 units in January 2008.

The company sold a total of 17611 vehicles (Domestic + Exports) in January 2009, as against 22309 vehicles sold in January 2008.

M&M exported 291 units in January 2009, as against 1425 units exported in January 2008.
