India Yamaha Motor is going easy on its export plans, mainly due to the global downturn. But it plans to further increase its focus on the the Indian market where it is grabbing new market share. The company though will continue exports to Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, the Philippines and Colombia and is also likely to add the US and Japan to the list.
Yukimine Tsuji, CEO and MD of IYML, said: “The export numbers depend upon how the economic situation develops. We are looking at about 30,000 bikes.” He added, "India can be an export hub for our two legendary models — the FZ16 and R15.”
