Mumbai, April 1, 2009: Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (M&M Ltd.), a part of the US $6.7 billion Mahindra Group, today announced domestic sales of 25748 units in March 2009 - its highest ever automotive sales figures. These figures also denote the highest ever monthly sales this year.

I am especially pleased that our newly launched Mahindra XYLO has changed the rules of the game with impressive sales figures. “Our sales figures this month have been bolstered by impressive numbers for all M&M Ltd. products. Domestic Utility Vehicles have grown a solid 30% on the back of the highest ever sales for the Scorpio, Bolero and the Pik-Up. Not to mention the strong market sentiment which continues for the recently launched XYLO which clocked an impressive 3171 units, all of which augurs well for us in the future. March 2009 thus, represents the highest ever monthly sales figures for M&M and also bodes well going forward on the back of the best quarter in the last fiscal. M&M automotive sector’s total domestic volumes (including joint ventures) for the month of March 2009 stand at 25748 units, as against 23128 units in March 2008. This marks a solid 30% jump in sales for the company’s Utility Vehicles. This includes the highest ever monthly sales for the Scorpio, Bolero and the Pik-Up which stood at 19973 units for March 2009 as against 15366 units for the same period last year.
The company sold a total of 26209 vehicles (Domestic + Exports) in March 2009, as against 24682 vehicles (Domestic + Exports) sold in March 2008.
Launched in January 2009, the Mahindra XYLO has revived market sentiment with consistent and impressive sales of 3171 units in March 2009, which includes 3124 units in domestic sales.
M&M’s YTD domestic volumes for the period upto March 2009 stand at 220215 units, as against 218977 units for the same period last year.
