DZire powers Maruti Suzuki to No. 1 position in A-3 segment

The ever-popular sedan crosses 1 lakh-milestone in record time
New Delhi, September 15, 2009: The much-loved Dzire has helped Maruti Suzuki overtake the likes of the Honda, Ford, and Hyundai to emerge as the market leader in the A-3 segment. The ride to the top has been fuelled by DZire crossing a magic figure of 100,000 in sales over just 18 months since its launch in March 2008.

Maruti Suzuki (MSIL) holds the top spot in the A-3 segment – 38.6 per cent during April-August, 2009 vis-à-vis last year’s 27.2% – and the maximum credit for this leadership goes to the DZire. Other cars in the A-3 segment include Tata Indigo, Mahindra Renault Logan, Ford Fusion, Ford Fiesta, Ford Ikon, Hyundai Verna, Hyundai Accent, Chevrolet Aveo, Mitsubishi Lancer, Honda City and Maruti Suzuki SX4.
To meet the ever-increasing demand for DZire, MSIL has scaled up the manufacture of the car to 7,000 units a month today from around 4,000 units initially.

Ever since its launch, the DZire has been a customer’s favourite owing to many factors, including its good looks, super fuel efficiency and a feature-packed value proposition.

The DZire has won several accolades, including the top rank in ‘automotive quality’ in J.D. Power’s ‘India’s Initial Quality Study’ in 2008. It was also voted the most appealing mid-size car in J.D. Power’s ‘India’s Appeal Study’ in the same year. Top Gear too awarded DZire the ‘Car of the Year’ title and approved of it as having the ‘lowest cost of maintenance’.

DZire offers a superb mileage of 21 kmpl in diesel and 15.9 kmpl in petrol, even more than many hatchbacks available in the market. As such, Maruti Suzuki’s ‘heart’ car continues to tug at many heart-strings, and fulfilling the DZire for a ‘big car’ in many Indian families.
