Hyundai Likely to Roll out i10 Diesel Variant

Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) is not ruling out a diesel version of i10. The company is looking at options to introduce the latest version in diesel, said HW Park, managing director and CEO of HMIL. He also did not rule out the possibility of introducing its small car during 2011, as against the original plan to showcase it at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo.

Park spoke to FE on the sidelines of the unveiling of Verna Transform, a new version of Verna. “Hyundai will consider introducing next generation of i10 in diesel version. It is a desired option but there is no timeframe when will introduce the same", he said. "We have been overwhelmed by the huge response for our existing i10 model and the sales are growing. Unlike others, we want to bring in the latest technology even in our diesel versions. When we think, we will definitely make the difference."

He added: “We have no plans to phase out the Accent model. The car is doing well.”
