CHENNAI: Buoyed by growing luxury car market , German luxury car maker , Audi has lined up three new launches for the Indian market this year.
"We will be adding three more cars to our basket in India in 2011. The Audi A8 model will hit roads beginning February, Audi A7 will be made available by June while Audi A6 can be seen on India roads in the fourth quarter of this year," Michael Perschke, head of Audi India said after unveiling Audi R8 5.2 FSI at the company's showroom here in Chennai.
With these new additions, the company is aiming to scale up the market share in the luxury car segment to 30% from the present 20% by the end of 2011. "In 2010, Audi sold 3003 units, when compared to 1,658 cars in 2009, exceeding targets to achieve record growth if 81%.
We will maintain the same pace this year too and are aiming at selling 4,500 cars in the Indian market. The launch of Audi A6 later this year will give us additional momentum," Michael added. Audi Chennai CEO K Subramanian said, "We expect to sell around 400 units of Audi cars in Tamil Nadu this year. We sold around 227 units in 2010.“
When asked about the company's plans for India, Michael said that Audi is focused at strengthening its dealer network and will be opening showrooms at Surat, Ludhiana, Nagpur and Indore.
