SkodaAuto clocks 53 per cent sales growth in Sep 09

MUMBAI: Auto major, Skoda Auto India, has clocked a 53 per cent growth in its sales in September compared to the year-agoperiod.

The company's total sales for September 2009 stood at 1,854 units as against 1,213 units in the year-ago period.

The September sales were higher over the previous month of August as well when it had sold 1,463 units, a company press release said today.

"We are optimistic that the festival season will continue to see a much stronger response to our products and services and help drive growth in our sales in the coming months," SkodaAuto India, Board Member (Sales and Marketing), Thomas Kuehl, said.

Skoda Superb sold 257 units and had a 22.6 per cent segment share in the period January-August 2009 as against 5.6 per cent in January- August 2008, registering a growth of over 330 per cent in this segment.

The Skoda Octavia and the New Skoda Laura also continue to rank among the hottest selling cars in the C+ segment in India with a combined sales figure of 684 units in September 2009, the release said.
