Ford India adds more muscle to the Endeavour to build on leadership position in the SUV segment

Mumbai, January 21, 2009: Ford India has engaged one of Bollywood’s most macho action stars and a leading entrepreneur Suneil Shetty to herald the leadership position of its class leading SUV - the Endeavour.

Ford India announced this exclusive association with the acclaimed action hero at a ritzy event where the action star drove in his favourite Ford Endeavour; expressed his fascination for his newest set of wheels and shared his motoring experiences with Nigel Wark, executive director, Marketing, Sales & Service, Ford India.

''Cars have always ranked high on my priority list and the Ford Endeavour is a dream come true for any car buff looking for a true blue SUV,'' said Suneil Shetty.

Talking about the special association Nigel Wark said, "The Endeavour has been the highest selling SUV in 2008. This premium SUV is synonymous with style, power, success, performance and adventure, qualities that formed basis for a suitable brand association. Suneil Shetty is not only a proud Ford customer but embodies these key attributes of the Endeavour perfectly.

Ford India will be rolling out an all-new Endeavour leadership campaign, in print, starting January 23, 2009 in leading newspaper across India, featuring Suneil Shetty with India’s highest selling SUV. The ad-campaign will reinforce the brand positioning for the Endeavour, reflected in its new tagline – India's No. 1 SUV.

Suneil Shetty is one of the first true action heroes of the Indian film industry and has given machismo a whole new definition. He is equally popular for his tough looks and great physique as he is for his business acumen, deep and strong rooted family values and humble persona.



''Suneil is not only a successful film-star but a very successful business entrepreneur and interestingly these characteristics resonate with the core target audience of the Endeavour,'' observed Nigel.

Just like the Endeavour has proved itself on every terrain, Suneil has also cruised along different genres in Bollywood including action, comedy, emotional and drama with great panache.

The sales statistics made available by the Society of India Automobile Manufacturers [SIAM], ranks the Ford Endeavour as the market leader in terms of cumulative sales of SUVs in 2008, with total sales of 3328 units sold from January–December 2008, significantly more than any other manufacturer in the segment. The Endeavour enjoyed a predominant market share of 28% in the year just gone by.

"Despite new entrants in the SUV segment and the overall industry scenario, the Endeavour has been the preferred choice for the Indian consumer and has established itself as an undisputed leader in the segment", remarked Nigel.

The Ford Endeavour is available in three different variants – the 3.0 Litre 4x4 Thunder+, 2.5 Litre 4x2 Limited Edition and 2.5 Litre 4x2 XLT.
